My beloved Moleskines and the chicken scratch within have been scanned and uploaded for your perusal. After all, notes I make here eventually inform the work that I write, so why not make the scribbles themselves citable? There are two notebooks so far, one from my work in Mongolia and another from Kyrgyzstan.
This notebook comes from my fieldwork in the Mongolian province of Bayan Ölgii in September, 2009. The first part is a diary-style account of my travels, followed by notes from interviews with local falconers. As I didn’t have a dictaphone at the time, this notebook, and these photos, are the only record I’ve got.
This notebook comes from my fieldwork in Kyrgyzstan during my Fulbright Fellowship from 2010 to 2011. I used it to make notes on texts I was reading, keep track of interview questions and map out bird taxonomies with my subjects.
